My mother always dreamed I'd be a heroine: Mondera Chakroborty

Mondera Chakroborty, one of Dhallywood's rising stars, made her film debut with the Gias Uddin Selim directorial period film "Kajol Rekha", and garnered acclaim both in Bangladesh and internationally, giving her significant visibility in the industry.
She is currently gearing up for the release of her second film, "Neelchakra", directed by Mithu Khan and featuring popular actor Arifin Shuvoo opposite her. The movie is scheduled to hit theatres this Eid-ul-Azha.
In a conversation with The Daily Star, Mondera expressed her excitement about "Neelchakra". "We are all preparing everything with the hope that 'Neelchakra' will hit theatres this upcoming Eid," she said. "I'm very optimistic about this project."

Mondera explained that the film reflects contemporary life and resonates with today's generation. "It's a powerful story, and it's the kind of film families can enjoy together."
Speaking about Mithu Khan, Mondera praised his unique approach to filmmaking, saying, "He has the ability to understand audience expectations and has created a wonderful film."
Sharing her thoughts about working with Arifin Shuvoo for the first time, she revealed, "I grew up watching Arifin Shuvoo bhai's films and have been a fan of his. You could say he's been my crush for a long time. It felt wonderful to have him as my co-star."
When asked if she had told Shuvoo about him being her childhood crush, Mandira laughed and admitted, "No, I didn't tell him directly — but somehow, he found out! However, he is an incredibly supportive co-actor. I couldn't be happier to have him as my co-star, and I'm excited for the audience to see our film."
Mondera's entry into the entertainment world began with dance, following the footsteps of her mother, a professional dancer. "My mother's encouragement and support led me into showbiz," Mandira shared. "She always dreamed I would become a heroine, even though I had never considered it myself. Our relatives in Kolkata supported the idea too."
As for her experience as a Dhallywood actress, Mondera said, "I feel like I'm doing well. I am being selective with my projects, prioritising quality over quantity to establish a long-lasting career."
When asked about upcoming projects, she said, "I'm currently in talks for upcoming film projects. Hopefully, I'll have some exciting news to share soon."
