Rumours were circulating online that Leonardo DiCaprio might appear in "Squid Game Season 3", despite the negative reviews surrounding the second season.

Speculation arose on January 1 after OSEN reported that DiCaprio had secretly filmed a small role for the highly anticipated season, with all details about his character concealed to prevent spoilers.

The International cameo would have been a groundbreaking moment for Korean television to feature a Hollywood A-lister in a K-drama.

However, Netflix has clarified the situation, confirming that Leonardo DiCaprio will not appear in the next season. This clarification comes as the second season faces a wave of negative reviews, leaving fans uncertain about the show's future.

Numerous media outlets and pop culture pages have reported that the Hollywood heartthrob has become part of Netflix's biggest series. They also revealed that he secretly completed filming for the third installment in the US to keep his involvement hidden.

A Netflix representative stated, "The rumour that Leonardo DiCaprio will appear in Season 3 of 'Squid Game' is groundless."

Rumours about Leonardo DiCaprio joining the hit series "Squid Game" have surfaced before. In 2022, the show's creator, Hwang Dong Hyuk, discussed the potential for DiCaprio's involvement during an interview with Deadline. Hwang expressed enthusiasm for the idea, saying he would be thrilled if DiCaprio became part of the show.

Hwang noted that the larger budget and his well-defined vision for the game's storyline might allow for major Hollywood actors, such as DiCaprio, to join in a future season, particularly the third one. However, Netflix's recent statement has officially dismissed the rumours, leaving fans disappointed.

"Squid Game Season 3" has already been filmed and is now in production. Hwang hinted that the next installment will be more emotional, darker, and filled with humour, heightening excitement among fans.

While the exact release date is yet to be confirmed, he mentioned that Season 3 might premiere sometime between summer and fall.
