What was once a limited series might not stay that way for long. Netflix's hit drama "Adolescence"—which has soared to become the fourth most-watched English-language series on the platform with 114 million views—is reportedly being considered for a second season.

According to Deadline, Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment is in early discussions with director Philip Barantini about a "next iteration" of the series. While Season 1 wrapped its story conclusively, the creative team is exploring a follow-up that retains the show's DNA without repeating its original plot.

This proposed second season wouldn't revisit Jamie's trial or continue the original narrative. Instead, it may focus on a new teen protagonist, potentially exploring another story rooted in trauma or crime, with the same intense, emotionally raw style.

One of the defining features of "Adolescence" was its technical aspect—four hour-long, one-take episodes, a fact praised for its complexity in direction, acting, and choreography. Any new season would likely aim to replicate that signature format, a high bar to meet again.

While co-creator Stephen Graham and breakout star Owen Cooper are unlikely to return, the overwhelming success of the first season makes a follow-up almost inevitable. With "Adolescence" soon expected to surpass Dahmer in viewership, Netflix and Plan B appear keen to build on its momentum.
