'Priyotoma' shines as Salman Khan's film falters at Star Cineplex
Shakib Khan starrer "Priyotoma" has continued its impressive streak, engaging audiences at Star Cineplex for nearly two months since its Eid release. While Bangladeshi screens are buzzing with this local success story, the recent arrival of Salman Khan's "Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan" has faced challenges in making its mark.
Industry insiders have revealed that "Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan" has yet to make an impact at Star Cineplex. In response, the screenings of "Priyotoma" and "1971 Shei Shob Din" have been extended to meet the demand of the audience.
Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, manager, Media & Marketing at Star Cineplex, shared insights with The Daily Star, stating, "'Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan', has not gained the desired traction here. As a result, we have extended the screenings of 'Priyotoma' and '1971 Shei Shob Din', which was released on August 18. among all Eid releases, 'Priyotoma' stands as the sole remaining contender on our screens."
Directed by Himel Ashraf, "Priyotoma" has struck a chord with audiences, amassing an impressive collection of approximately 37 crore taka. The film's success transcends borders, with screenings also impressing the viewers in Australia (4th week) and England (2nd week). Excitingly, the film is set to grace more than 10 cities across Malaysia on August 31.
The movie sees Kolkata actress Idhika Pal sharing the screen with Shakib Khan. The stellar cast also includes Kazi Hayat, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Elina Shammi, Don, among others.
Hridi Huq's directorial debut, "1971 Shei Shob Din" was released on August 18. She is also featured in the film, alongside an ensemble cast, including Mamunur Rashid, Jayanta Chattopadhyay, Munmun Ahmed, Shilpi Sarkar Apu, Ferdous, Tarin, Litu Anam, Saju Khadem, Sanjida Preeti, among others.
