‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ breaks record with $1m pre-sales at US box office
Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna's upcoming film "Pushpa 2: The Rule" has made headlines by becoming the fastest Indian film to surpass USD $ 1 million in pre-sales at the US box office.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by the film's creators, who posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying, "Pushpa Raj's dominance is redefining the box office with a new dimension."
The announcement was accompanied by a poster featuring Allu Arjun's character, Pushpa, seated on a pile of cash, symbolising his growing influence at the box office.
Directed by Sukumar, "Pushpa 2" serves as the sequel to the 2021 blockbuster "Pushpa: The Rise", which enjoyed immense success across India. Allu Arjun will reprise his role as Pushpa Raj, while Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil will return as Srivalli and SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, respectively.
The recently released trailer, which debuted on November 17, teases a high-stakes confrontation between Pushpa and SP Shekhawat, while also showcasing the chemistry between Pushpa and Srivalli.
One of the trailer's highlights is actress Sreeleela's much-anticipated dance number, "Kissik." The film's music has been composed by Devi Sri Prasad, with Miroslaw Kuba Brozek handling the cinematography.
"Pushpa: The Rise" originally portrayed Allu Arjun's character as a lorry driver who climbs the ranks of a red sandalwood smuggling syndicate. Rashmika Mandanna played his love interest, Srivalli.
Released on December 17, 2021, "Pushpa: The Rise" grossed around Rs 350 crore worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing Indian film of that year.
