‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ set for OTT release
Following its record-breaking theatrical run since its release on December 5, "Pushpa 2: The Rule", starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, is gearing up for its OTT release. The highly anticipated sequel is set to stream on Netflix, covering multiple languages.
Initially, the platform had confirmed releases in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam. However, yesterday, Netflix India's official Instagram handle unveiled a teaser, announcing that the film's Hindi version will also be available for streaming today.
Netflix has confirmed that the digital release of "Pushpa 2: The Rule" will include an additional 23 minutes of unseen footage. Sharing the news on social media, the platform's official handle teased fans with a special announcement, stating, "Pushpa Bhau has heard you! Now experience Pushpa's rule in Hindi as well. Watch 'Pushpa 2'– Reloaded Version with 23 minutes of extra footage, streaming on Netflix from today in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada!"
"Pushpa 2: The Rule" takes the story forward from "Pushpa: The Rise", the life of Pushpa Raj, who has now established himself as the undisputed leader of the red sandalwood smuggling network after rising from a daily wage labourer.
Rashmika Mandanna portrays Srivalli, his steadfast wife, who stands by his side in conflicts with his estranged family. Meanwhile, Fahadh Faasil reprises his role as Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, a relentless police officer still grappling with the humiliation he suffered in the previous instalment. The film builds up towards an even bigger confrontation, setting the stage for "Pushpa 3: The Rampage".
However, on the eve of its release, a devastating incident occurred at Hyderabad's Sandhya Theatre, where Allu Arjun and the film's team had gathered for promotions. The tragic event, which took place on December 4, 2024, during a premiere screening, led to the unfortunate death of a woman named Revathi, while her child, Sri Teja, was critically injured.
The situation escalated as a massive crowd assembled outside the venue, eager to catch a glimpse of the superstar. In the aftermath, Arjun was briefly detained before being released on bail.
