‘Pushpa 2’ trailer: Allu Arjun returns as the fierce Pushpa Raj
The official trailer of the much-anticipated "Pushpa: The Rule", the second installment in the Pushpa franchise, dropped today, intensifying the buzz around Allu Arjun's return as the wild and powerful Pushpa Raj. Directed by Sukumar, this Telugu blockbuster sequel follows the massive success of "Pushpa: The Rise" (2021), which gained nationwide popularity, reviving the box office amid the pandemic.
The trailer opens with a character describing Pushpa Raj—a man unbothered by fear, wealth, or societal norms but burdened by an unnamed sorrow.
As Allu Arjun's Pushpa emerges on screen, the energy surges with action-packed, high-octane sequences and his signature swag. This time around, Pushpa Raj is more powerful, having ascended through the ranks to control the red sanders smuggling trade.
Rashmika Mandanna reprises her role as Srivalli, now married to Pushpa Raj. Fahadh Faasil, who made a brief but memorable appearance as the corrupt cop Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat in the first film, returns with a more prominent role as the antagonist.
New faces join the cast, including Jagapathi Babu and Sreeleela, who is set to perform a special dance number following the massive success of Samantha Ruth Prabhu's performance of "Oo Antava" in "Pushpa: The Rise".
While Devi Sri Prasad composed the original score, S Thaman has been brought in to handle the background music for the film's first half—a decision that has sparked some controversy, upsetting DSP. Despite the internal music shakeup, "Pushpa 2" is expected to bring the same fire and intensity as its predecessor.
Produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings, "Pushpa 2" promises to continue the saga of Pushpa Raj, a man who defies all odds to become a kingpin in the dangerous world of red sanders smuggling.
"Pushpa: The Rule" hits theatres on December 5, 2024.
