Director Raihan Rafi has quietly begun pre-production for his upcoming film "Tandob". While Rafi has officially signed on as the director, actor Shakib Khan has expressed verbal interest in joining the project, according to producer Shahriar Shakil. 

Rafi later confirmed that Shakib Khan will indeed star in the film.  

Shahriar Shakil, head of SVF and Alpha-i Entertainment, revealed in an interview with Prothom Alo, "We've already started work on the film, and the entire team is focused on 'Tandob'. Pre-production is progressing rapidly. Although the director is confirmed, we've chosen Shakib Khan as our preferred lead actor."

He added, "After discussing the story with us, he liked it and verbally committed to the project. We're moving forward based on that plan."  

Rafi is scheduled to begin uninterrupted shooting in February, aiming for a release during next year's Eid-ul-Adha. Written by Rafi himself, the story for "Tandob" is complemented by a screenplay co-written with Adnan Adib Khan, known for scripting "Toofan".  

Sharing his excitement, Rafi said, "Audiences have long wanted to see me collaborate with Shakib Khan again. This time, we're coming back with something fresh. I'm thrilled about this project, and viewers will see a whole new side of Shakib Khan."

Although Rafi remained tight-lipped about the plot, he teased that "Tandob" will be a high-energy, action-packed film designed to surprise local audiences. "My previous films—'Poran', 'Surongo', and 'Toofan'—all released during Eid and were well-loved by audiences. This time too, we're aiming for an Eid release," Rafi added.  

Interestingly, "Tandob" has taken precedence over the planned sequel to "Toofan". Addressing this, Rafi said, "We want 'Toofan-2' to be even better, which is why we're taking more time to perfect the story. Meanwhile, 'Tandob' felt like the right project to proceed with now."  

The director also hinted at exciting international collaborations for "Tandob", including foreign fight directors and crew members. However, the lead actress for the film remains a mystery, with Rafi promising a surprise announcement later this month.
