‘Rickshaw Girl’ to hit theatres this month
On Sunday (January 12), the makers of "Rickshaw Girl" unveiled a new trailer alongside the official announcement of its release date. The much-anticipated film, directed by Amitabh Reza, is set to hit theatres across the country on January 24.
Based on the novel by American author Mitali Perkins, the film was originally scheduled for a 2020 release but was postponed due to the pandemic.
The story follows Naima, a young woman with a passion for painting. When her father, the sole breadwinner of their impoverished family, suddenly falls ill, she is forced to take charge. With no way to earn money through her art, Naima takes to the streets with a rickshaw. As challenges mount, the question remains—how will Naima fulfill her dreams?
Novera Rahman plays the titular role in "Rickshaw Girl", alongside Champa, Momena Chowdhury, Naresh Bhuiyan, and Allen Shuvro. Momena Chowdhury and Naresh Bhuiyan portray the roles of Naima's mother and father, respectively.
"As soon as the trailer and posters were uploaded, they created a stir across social media," said executive producer Md Asaduzzaman.
Following the release of the trailer, excitement has been building around this full-length feature film, the first joint production between the United States and Bangladesh. The buzz has now taken over the online space.
