'Squid Game' season 2 criticised for male-dominated teaser
Recently, Netflix released the first teaser of "Squid Game" season 2 which was unveiled on June 17, as part of Netflix's 'Tudum'.
While many were blown away by the new additions to the season; others were quite taken away by the male dominated casts and criticised the makers for the teaser.
Fans are upset with the show's creators for failing to include any female stars, especially following the success of Jung Ho-yeon and Lee Yoo-mi in Season 1. Fans are eager to find out what the show has in store for them.
"I didn't watch the first season of 'Squid Game' closely, but obviously I know the cultural impact. I was overjoyed to see the actors of S2. And, as much as I enjoy the new additions, the misogyny did not go unnoticed. I knew and cared about the female protagonists more than the male leaders," said one user.
Another person wrote, "The female characters were the best thing about 'Squid Game' they really ruined it with an all male cast,,, also the ending was bad, all that potential to be a good show with just 1 season was simply wasted."
"One of the reasons why the 'Squid Game' went so viral was for the female cast. Even 2 seconds of Yoo Mii carried the show, the director is stupid for not introducing the female cast from the beginning (if they are planning to have one)", wrote another user.
"Squid Game" season 2 will release soon in Netflix.
"Squid Game" starred Lee Jung-jae, HoYeon Jung, Wi Ha-joon, Park Ha-soo, Lee Byung-hun, Anupam Tripathi, Lee Yoo-mi, and Gong Yoo in pivotal roles. The first season of the show beat the previous record for the most watched series on Netflix, with 1.65 billion hours of viewing in the first 28 days of its debut.
