Dev has announced on Twitter that he will not be working on a biopic about Nawab Siraj ud-Daulah with filmmaker Srijit Mukherji. During a #AskDev session on Twitter, the actor clarified that he isn't a part of the biopic.

Birsa Dasgupta, who is directing Dev's production "Byomkesh o Durgo Rohoshyo," asked Dev "What is it like to be Byomkesh Bakshi? And when will we see you in and as Siraj?".

"Byomkesh is one of the toughest characters I have ever played.. Regarding Siraj, no idea," answered Dev.

A user highlighted a recent interview with Srijit in which the filmmaker discussed his aspirations to collaborate with Dev on two new films, one of which is a biopic on Nawab Siraj ud-Daulah, the last independent nawab of Bengal who was defeated by the British at the Battle of Plassey. The "Zulfiqar" director stated that he had discussions with Dev about the project.

However, when a person asked the same question to Dev, the actor replied that he is not doing the biopic nor does he have any upcoming projects with him.

According to reports, Dev and Srijit had a falling out over the adaptation of Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay's "Durgo Rahasya." Srijit wanted Anirban Bhattacharya to play the renowned character, but the producer, Shadow Films, insisted on Dev. Srijit was replaced as director by Birsa, and Srijit moved on to work on a web series based on the same story with OTT platform Hoichoi.

Dev added that he has a lot of things in place for the promotion of "Bagha Jatin," which is set to enter theaters during Durga Puja.

He also said that during Durga Puja, a teaser for Ram Kamal Mukherjee's helmed "Binodiini Ekti Natir Upakhyan," which he is producing and stars Rukmini Maitra as Binodini, will be released.
