Films have long served as a mirror to society, and the event titled "Stories Untold: A Short Film Showcase" seeks to ignite meaningful dialogues about overlooked social realities on December 26.

Scheduled to run from 8:00pm to 9:30pm at Naveed's Comedy Club in Gulshan, this thought-provoking event will feature three award-winning short films that delve into themes of gender, societal norms, and the complexities of patriarchy with artistry and depth.

Led by host Makhzum Khan Shadid, this gathering is poised to blend laughter with a meaningful cause.

"Stories Untold" transcends a typical film screening, serving as a tribute to Dhaka's advancing filmmakers and the universal narratives they bring to life. Through unique and often overlooked perspectives, each film offers an intimate journey into the depths of human emotions—highlighting moments of fragility, resilience, and optimism.

The featured films include "CarMa", directed by Amal Chowdhury and S M Bayazid Hossain. The plot revolves around a late-night drive that takes a mysterious turn when Arpita and her boyfriend cross paths with two enigmatic sisters following a car breakdown.

The Dibarah Mahboob directorial film "Kraati" is about two parallel stories of strength: Shayla, struggling against her father's strict authority, and Halima, a domestic worker juggling the pressures of family and society.

Filmmaker Akhlaq Siddiqi's "Beyond the Curtain" tells of Soha's longing for independence during her birthday, sparking a confrontation with her parents and culminating in a tense moment that challenges the strength of their family ties.

Audiences will be able to dive into the creative journeys behind each short film, followed by director-led discussions on the art and intention of storytelling, as part of the event's facilities.

In the Director's Panel Discussion, attendees can explore filmmaking's role in addressing societal issues with audience-submitted questions and filmmaker insights.

During the Networking Session, attendees will have the opportunity to meet the filmmakers and engage with others who share a passion for cinema and social impact.

The entry fee for one person is Tk 300. Further details are available on the official Facebook event page, titled, "Stories Untold: A Short Film Showcase".
