The relentless actress
Tasnia Farin might give off a 'girl next door' vibe, but underneath her bubbly exterior, lies a fierce actress. The "Ladies & Gentlemen" star thrives on multi-layered characters, as she is always on the hunt for challenging roles.
Recently, the versatile actress broke the internet with her stunning yellow trail gown and gorgeous Swarovski pendant at the 'Blender's Choice-The Daily Star OTT & Digital Content Awards-2021". She later snagged the "Best Actress" accolade for herself, in the popular category.
In a candid conversation with The Daily Star, the beautiful actress opens up about her upcoming projects, movies, and more.
How does it feel after winning big at the Blender's Choice-The Daily Star OTT & Digital Content Awards 2021?
The feeling is surreal, and words can't fully express my emotions right now. It's an honour to be nominated for "Ladies & Gentlemen", as it's my first web series in OTT. The 'Best Actress' award means a lot to me, as audiences have watched my work and appreciated it wholeheartedly. I am truly blessed and honoured by the undying love of fans, as it proves that hard work always pays off in the end.
When will we get to see 'Karagar-2" in Hoichoi?
People have been constantly asking me this question since its release. Interestingly enough, when I was returning to Dhaka from Thailand for the OTT awards, my immigration officer asked me when 'Karagar-2' will come. He said he won't stamp my passport if I didn't reveal the date! Fortunately, I did get the seal without revealing too much. (laughs)
How challenging was it to learn sign language for "Karagar"? Your character hardly smiled in the series.
People will get to see different layers of my character in the second season. Both Chanchal bhai and I had an acting coach, who would teach us the art of sign language. We had a 7-8 days crash course, so that we can adapt the body language perfectly.
While I was being briefed about my role, Shawki bhai told me that 'Maha' is one of the most static characters in the whole series. She doesn't really express her true emotions. She had a lot of baggage, and thus a smile was not something that came to her naturally.
How was the experience of working in your Tollywood debut film "Aro Ek Prithibi"?
Atanu Da (Atanu Ghosh is a brilliant filmmaker with an exceptional vision for storytelling. He is a wonderful human being from whom I got to learn a lot about philosophical perspectives. It was completely a new experience coming to the UK alone, and shooting with a whole new team.
The only difficult part was enacting the 'Kolkata' accent. However, I most of my lines were in English. Fortunately, I was able to fine-tune my Bangla dialogue during the dubbing process. So it wasn't really a big deal.
You will be seen as a terrorist in Raihan Rafi's web film 'Nishwas'.
When Rafi bhai was narrating the plot of 'Nishwas', I was wondering hard whether I would be able to enact it properly. This was the first time I got a character with whom I had zero similarities whatsoever. Usually, I would take inspiration from my close ones but for this role, I had to research a lot. It was really difficult for me to understand what made her choose this path.
I had to take special training for this role, for instance -- weapon training, hospital visits, and staying in character for a long time. This character added another unique dimension to my acting career.
