There should be more films on Bangabandhu: Chanchal Chowdhury
Recently, Chanchal Chowdhury went to the trailer inauguration of "Dushshahoshi Khoka" where he talked about the importance of having more films based on Bangabandhu.
"Films are made with several aspects in mind. Some are made for the sake of art while others are produced for commercial purposes. However, there are films that are created out of responsibility and ideals as a citizen- and films on Bangabandhu are exactly what holds this virtue," Chanchal said.
"There should be more movies about the Father of our Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman," the actor added.
Chanchal Chowdhury also expressed his sadness that our film industry couldn't make more films on Bangabandhu, stating, "As a Bangladeshi, we have the responsibility to make films on Bangabandhu so that we can inspire the future generation to learn from his principles. However, we failed to do so and I want to apologise to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as we could not honour him properly."
The "Hawa" actor also took digs at a popular movie which has apparently generated huge revenue at theatres.
"I really couldn't watch half the film as I couldn't understand what was so grand about the film. I will not reveal the name of the movie. However, I would like to ask everyone why we are watching such films. Do we really not have any ideals left," stated the actor.
The actor also questioned his audiences as to whether they are actually preaching Bangabandhu's ideals and principles to the young generation.
"Shouldn't we be educating our children to respect and adhere to Bangabandhu's ideals. Our great leader and his family sacrificed their life to protect our country and we need to give respect to films made based on him," he said.
"Instead of wasting money by watching these '1000 crore' films, we need to watch movies which highlight Bangabandhu's principles. You cannot be a Bangali if you can't honour him," concluded the actor.
Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar's "Dushshahoshi Khoka", a government granted film which captures the early life of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, will be released in theatres on September 8 this year.
