‘Ujan Bhati’ director CB Zaman passes away
Renowned filmmaker CB Zaman, best known for his work on "Ujan Bhati", passed away today. He breathed his last at a private hospital in the capital while undergoing treatment. His son CF Zaman confirmed the news of his passing this afternoon to local media. The late director had been critically ill and was hospitalised for several days.
His funeral prayers (Janaza) are scheduled to take place after Isha Namaz at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) today. The announcement was shared in a Facebook post by Kabirul Rana, deputy secretary-general of the Directors' Association.
Earlier last week, his son had informed about his heart attack, which led to his hospitalisation. Considering his critical condition, doctors immediately admitted him to the ICU. With no improvement in his condition, he was placed on life support, but he could not be revived.
This veteran director had suffered multiple strokes and heart attacks in the past. Most recently, he was hospitalised in April, last year, following a heart attack.
Over his two-and-a-half-decade-long career, CB Zaman directed several acclaimed films, including "Jhorer Pakhi", "Ujan Bhati", and "Puroskar". His film "Puroskar" won five categories at the National Film Awards in 1983.
