Vicky Zahed’s ‘Chokro’ returns with new season
Sixteen years ago, a tragic incident in Mymensingh shocked the nation when nine members of a single family took their own lives.
Inspired by this event, a 20-episode web-series titled "Chokro" was recently released on the OTT platform iScreen.
Directed by Vicky Zahed and featuring Tawsif Mahbub and Tasnia Farin in lead roles, the spine-chilling storyline quickly resonated with audiences. Riding on this success, the second season, titled "Chokro 2", is now set for release.
The "Chokro" team celebrated their success and announced season 2 by cutting a cake last Thursday night (October 31). The event was attended by director Vicky Zahed, actors Tawsif Mahbub, Tasnia Farin, AK Azad Setu, Shahed Ali, and other cast and crew members.
Zahed shared that "Chokro 2" is planned for release in March or April 2025 as a seven-episode series.
He said, "There's strong interest from viewers for season 2, and it will pick up where the story left off. Although season 1 had 20 episodes, the entire story couldn't be told because of the complex plot. I already have the storyline for the next part in mind."
Reflecting on the journey, he continued, "At first, I was apprehensive, wondering if viewers would embrace this kind of content after all the challenges we faced. But the positive feedback since release has led us to tonight's celebration." Zahed believes personal experiences significantly influence any creative work.
This project also marked Tawsif Mahbub's OTT debut, which received an enthusiastic response from viewers. "My very first OTT project is getting a spin-off, which means the audience loved it. I'm thankful to them. My TV drama debut was with 'All Time Dourer Upor', and now 'Chokro' on OTT. These first projects will always be special to me."
"Chokro" is currently streaming on iScreen, with the first five episodes available for free until November 7. After that, viewers will need to subscribe to watch the series.
