The craze surrounding "Pathaan" took over the world when the film was originally released. Even now, some 61 days after its release, the storm of "Pathaan" continues to rage on. One after another, the film is continuing to make and break records. Having run for six weeks already, the film was expected to slow down. But surprisingly, it earned more in the sixth week than it did in the first five. Some Indian media outlets have now reported on why the success of "Pathaan" is continuing.

"Selfiee" was released on February 24, amidst the already ongoing box-office success of "Pathaan". However, Akshay Kumar's film failed to meet audience expectations. As a result, while the newly released "Selfiee" was initially earning more per-day than "Pathaan", the latter would very soon return to being the top daily box-office earner in a short time.

According to Indian media outlets, on average, "Selfiee" earned Rs 3 crore per day in the first three days of its release. From the fourth day, the daily earnings of the film shot down to Rs 1 crore. From its seventh day in theatres, "Selfiee" saw its daily earnings drop below the one crore mark.

Due to the failure of "Selfiee", the daily earnings of "Pathaan" once again began to soar. On average, "Pathaan" began eaarning Rs 1.5 crore every two days—which was 50 percent more than the weekend of its sixth week. So far, the Shah Rukh Khan blockbuster has earned over Rs 513 crore from just the Hindi language version of the film.

Some halls even removed screenings of "Pathaan" in hopes of earning from films released after the SRK starrer. However, the result was the opposite. The earnings of halls that removed "Pathaan" significantly dropped, causing them to start screening the film again.

Another reason being cited for the success of "Pathaan" is the fact that none of the films released after can match up to its star power. The audience is still confident in the film, particularly because it stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. At the same time, SRK fans have been flocking to the halls to watch "Pathaan" as well.

Shah Rukh Khan's return to the big screen has been a phenomenon worth watching. Since its release "Pathaan" has dominated the halls and the box office. The film has succeeded despite controversies and has already made its mark in Bollywood.

Now, "Pathaan" has become the fifth highest-grossing film in India. The four other films that have earned more than "Pathaan" include "Dangal" (in first place), "Baahubali", "RRR" and "KGF: Chapter 2", respectively.
