Marshall Islands president in Dhaka
Marshall Islands President Dr Hilda Heine arrived in Dhaka today to attend a two-day international conference on climate change adaptation.
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen received her at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, a foreign ministry official told The Daily Star.
Former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and chairman of Global Commission on Adaptation is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka in the evening.
The two-day climate conference will discuss various ways of adaptation and make recommendations in the UN summit in September this year.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the key part of the event titled "Dhaka Meeting of the Global Commission on Adaptation" tomorrow at Hotel InterContinental.
The meeting will prepare a set of recommendations on climate change adaptation for placing it before the UN in September.
The PM will also hold a meeting with the Marshall Islands president and the former UN chief at the InterContinental to discuss various issues related to climate change adaptation efforts.
