Khulna fuel traders call indefinite strike from Sept 3
Fuel traders in Khulna called an indefinite strike from September 3 to press home their three-point demands, including raising sales commission to 7.5 percent.
The announcement came from a meeting of Bangladesh Tanker Owners Association, Bangladesh Fuel Oil Distributors Association, Khulna Divisional Tank lorry Workers Union, and Padma Meghna and Jamuna Tank lorry Workers' Welfare Association held at Tank Lorry Bhaban in Khulna city today, reports our local correspondent.
The other demands include setting the tank-lorry economic life to 50 years, and issuing a gazette notification in line with the pledges made.
Sheikh Murad Hossain, general secretary of Khulna division Fuel Oil Distributors Association, said they have placed their three-point demand several times but the government did not pay heed to those.
As the government did not meet their demands within the stipulated time today, fuel traders decided to go for an indefinite strike from September 3, he said.
The extraction and transportation of fuel oil will be stopped for an indefinite period from September 3, he added.
