Tiger visits forest station in Sundarban again
Once again, a tiger has been seen roaming in front of the forest department office inside the Sundarbans at the Kachikhali Sanctuary Office of Sarankhola Range of Sundarban East Forest Division.
A forest guard named Mostak Ahmed posted a video of the tiger on social media on Thursday which became viral.
In the one-minute sixteen-second video, the tiger was seen roaming in front of the barracks of the station. After sensing the presence of people, it eventually moved towards the forest.
Mostak Ahmed said after he woke up in the morning on Tuesday, he saw a tiger roaming outside the station.
"I was startled by the tiger. After taking in the initial shock, I started making videos with my mobile phone. After a while, the tiger moved towards the forest," he said.
Mahabub Hossain, Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) of Sarankhola Range, said three tigers, including a baby and two adults, have been seen in the area before.
Asked, he said tigers are roaming freely because of the strict implementation of conservation measures and that might be the reason behind the frequent sightings of these elusive animals.
He claimed that tiger numbers have increased in the forest as the forest department has ensured a safe habitat for them.
Earlier, on February 3 this year, three tigers were spotted roaming in the Chandeshwar Forest Office area of Supati Station in the Sarankhola Range of Sundarban.
The forest guards reported that the tigers roamed around the office area for more than 20 hours.
