Three brick kilns were demolished by separate mobile courts in Rangamati and Bandarban yesterday for operating illegally.

In Rangamati, a mobile court led by Kawkhali Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kazi Atiqur Rahman destroyed two brick kilns -- BRB Bricks and MBB Bricks -- located in Betbunia area under Kawkhali upazila.

In Bandarban, another mobile court demolished a brick kiln and fined it Tk 1 lakh in Thanchi upazila, said Thanchi UNO Rakib Hasan Chowdhury, who led the drive.

Earlier on January 5, the High Court directed the deputy commissioners of the three hill districts to shut all illegal brick kilns in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
