BMD predicts rainfall across the country for five days

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall for five days commencing 9:00am today in different areas of the country.
Besides, there could be thundershowers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind during the period, while moderately heavy to heavy rainfall may occur in places during the first four days, according to the latest bulletin.
Meanwhile, day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country in the first three days before slightly rising in the next two days, it said.
After this period, rainfall activity may decrease and temperature may rise, BMD said.
For the first 24-hour period forecast till 9:00am tomorrow, the bulletin said light to moderate rain or thundershowers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind are likely to occur at "a few places" over all eight divisions, with moderately heavy to heavy falls in some areas across the country.
As per the bulletin, in a 24-hour period till 6:00am today, the country's highest rainfall was 60mm in Cox's Bazar.
Besides, during the period, 58mm rainfall occurred in Rangpur, 39mm in Narsingdi, 35mm in Dhaka, and 28mm in Sreemangal of Moulvibazar.
Yesterday, the country's highest maximum temperature was 36.5 degrees Celsius in Sylhet.
