Most northern districts, including Rangpur, Dinajpur and Panchagarh, are experiencing an intensified cold spell due to thick fog and chilling winds despite a stable temperature.

The biting cold also has disrupted daily life, with people struggling to cope in the early mornings and nights.

Jitendra Nath, the acting officer of Tetulia Weather Observatory in Panchagarh, confirmed that while temperatures have remained stable, the weather feels colder due to heavy fog and icy winds. Similarly, Tofazzal Hossain, acting officer of the Dinajpur Weather Office, reported similar conditions.

In Panchagarh, temperature slightly increased to 12.9 degrees Celsius at 9:00am from 12.8 degrees Celsius recorded at 6:00am today.

However, the sun has not been seen in the district for the last three days due to the thick fog.

The dense fog has reduced visibility to such an extent that vehicles have been using headlights even during the day. Many residents, especially low-income workers, had to venture out despite the harsh weather.

Aftab Uddin, a stone quarry worker, said, "I can barely see ten feet ahead due to the fog, but I have to work to feed my family despite the biting cold."

Many people shared their difficulties, stating that the cold has become unbearable in this season.

Panchagarh's local administration has already distributed 2,000 blankets to the needy but called on non-government organisations and individuals to step in to help more people.

In Rangpur, local weather office in-charge Mustafizur Rahman said that 12.8 degrees Celsius has been recorded at 9:00am and it may continue like this for the next several days.

Meanwhile, Naogaon witnessed the lowest temperature today in the country. It was 11.7 degree Celsius in the morning today.

In Dinajpur, the cold spell continues to grip the area although the mercury has been hovering above 13 degrees for last two days. The local met office recorded minimum temperature of 13 degrees Celsius at 6:00am.
