400 doves, pigeons poisoned to death in Bagerhat

Around 340 doves and 60 pigeons died after consuming poison-laced bird food in Morrelganj upazila of Bagerhat.

Nasir Uddin Faraji, the owner of the pigeons, filed a case with Morrelganj Police station in this regard, reports our local correspondent quoting Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge of the police station.

According to the case statement, Selim Sheikh, a sharecropper from Uttar Saralia village had spread out the poisoned bird-food on the field -- killing the birds over the last two days, the OC said.

"Legal action will be taken after investigation," the OC added.

Further details regarding the incident could not be known immediately.
