The Daily Star wins South Asian Digital Media Awards for the 3rd time
The Daily Star has won bronze at the prestigious South Asian Digital Media Awards 2019 presented by WAN-IFRA (the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers.
The award ceremony was held in Delhi on February 18.
The Daily Star won "Best in Social Media Engagement" for a campaign called "Bangladesh in World Cup", according to a press release.
It was a joint initiative with the ice-cream brand Polar.
The campaign was designed with the ICC Cricket World Cup 2018 in mind.
The core idea was to give readers and audiences a platform to portray their love for Team Bangladesh during the competition. A key feature of the campaign was the use of augmented reality technology.
"With this campaign, we have not only successfully managed to achieve these with utmost success; but the campaign stands out on its own -- acting as a case study to be analysed by other media companies. Moreover, the accolade earned from WAN-IFRA, served as an icing on the cake; a worthy remuneration for the campaign and the simple yet effective idea that it promotes," said Md Tajdin Hassan, head of marketing at The Daily Star.
"It was a pleasure to be a part of the campaign in collaboration with The Daily Star. It is more than a privilege getting this award. Our heartfelt thanks to The Daily Star," said Quazi Almach Hasan, senior brand manager of Polar.
For each category there are three awards: bronze, silver and gold. This is the most notable recognition for publishers for their outstanding work in digital media. The awards are presented in almost every region: South Asia, Asia, Middle East, Africa, Europe and Latin America.
This is the third time The Daily Star has won the prestigious South Asian Digital Media Award. The Daily Star won two Gold in 2017 and one Silver in 2018. It also won the Asian Media Awards in 2018 in the community engagement category.
