NSU holds seminar on battling radicalism
North South University (NSU) held a research based seminar to enlighten students against radicalism on its premises on December 6.
The seminar titled "Battling Radicalism Through Information" and organized by the citizen empowerment movement, Shopner Desh, in collaboration with the university's Communications Club, and the Human Resource Club was arranged to enlighten students of the university against radicalism and to thwart terrorism in the name of religion, the press release reads.
Bobby Hajjaj, convener of Shopner Desh, was the Chief Guest of the seminar and delivered the ending speech.
Expert speeches on the significance of 'women empowerment' in battling radicalism, the role of West as our development and commercial partner, and in promoting democracy, along with discussions on the incompatibility of religion and terrorism were delivered at during the seminar.
Eminent personalities like Professor Emdadul Haque, Head of Political Science Department of North South University, Assistant Professor Abdullah M Taher, a communication and motivational trainer, Syeda Sadia Mehjabin, a media personality, Siddhartha Goswami, representative of UNDP, US Embassy Public Affairs Officer Kamrul Hasan were also present at the event.
