Young Lions, Young Marketers competition held in Bangladesh
For the fourth time, the most exciting competition for creative professionals 'Young Lions Competition Bangladesh' was held in Dhaka yesterday.
The event also marked the commencement of 'Young Marketers Competition Bangladesh', according to a press release.
Both the competitions, held simultaneously, are initiatives of Bangladesh Brand Forum and The Daily Star, and organized in association with Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. The daylong competitions were held at The Daily Star Centre on July 7.
There were two winning teams (joint winners) for Young Marketers Competition – Team Shwapno (ACI Logistics Ltd) and Team GlaxoSmithKline Bangladesh Ltd.
Members of team Shwapno were Zubayer Mahmud Hasan, Manager - Category Management andMehjabin Badhon, Manager, Customer Satisfaction, PR & Promotion. Members of team GlaxoSmithKline were Sajeed Alam, Future Leaders Program Trainee and Jasia Nuzhat Haider, Brand Manager.
Winning team for Young Lions Competition was from the agency Lie to Eye. The members were Mashfique Khalid, Creative Lead and Pulak Das, Art Lead.
As the reward of the competition, the winning teams will get to attend and represent Bangladesh at Spikes Asia 2018 in Singapore, which will be held in September.
The theme for Young Lions Competition was 'In Search of the Most Creative Young Professionals', whereas for Young Marketers Competition it was 'In Search of the Ultimate Young Marketers'.
For both the competitions, a separate case was given challenging the participants to develop campaign/solutions within seven hours of time. For young marketers, the case was on 'Sweets of Bangladesh' and participants were to develop a marketing strategy that would help brand Bangladeshi desserts globally. For Young Lions, the challenge was to develop an integrated campaign to create mass awareness about the hazards of drug abuse. The teams came up with some exciting campaigns and strategic solutions, highlighting proper utilization of digital and print media, ground activation and strategic cooperation among relevant stakeholders.
From 23 agencies, a total of 32 teams, each comprising of two members, participated in the Young Lions Competition. Whereas, Young Marketer Competition had 17 teams from 13 organizations.
Both competitions had a panel of expert jurors each. Young Lions Competition had Moasser Ahmed, Country Marketing Manager, Coca-Cola Bangladesh Ltd; Md Tajdin Hassan, Head of Marketing, The Daily Star; and Mahzabin Ferdous, Head of Brand and Corporate Communication, IPDC Finance Limited in the jury panel. On the other hand, the jury panel for Young Marketers Competition had Ashraf Bin Taj, President, Marketing Society of Bangladesh; Aftab Mahmud Khurshid, Chief Marketing Officer, Bengal Group of Industries; Surayya Siddiqua, Head Of Marketing Communications, ICP-International Consumers Products Bangladesh Limited; and AKM Zabed, Chief Marketing Officer, Anwar Group of Industries. The teams explained their campaigns in 5 minute presentations before the jurors. After thorough evaluation, the jurors announced the winning teams of both competitions, according to the press release.
Young Lions and Young Marketers Competitions were made possible with the support of Strategic Partner Roaring Lions and Knowledge Partner Marketing Society of Bangladesh.
