Former bank official sent to jail for sexually abusing four children in Lalmonirhat
A former bank official has been sent to jail on charges of sexually abusing four children in Lalmonirhat's Kaliganj upazila after he surrendered before the court yesterday.
Lalmonirhat District Judge who is also acting judge of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Md Mizanur Rahman passed the order after Mobarak Ali surrendered before the court.
One of the victims' father filed a case with Kaliganj Police Station in connection with the incident on December 3 last year.
Kaliganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Arju Mohammad Sajjad Hossain confirmed the incident and said police could not arrest the man until now as he was on the run.
Mobarak, a resident of Tepatari village in the upazila, was the former principal officer of Agrani Bank's Mission Mor branch in Lalmonirhat town.
According to the case statement, Mobarak used to go to his village home on holidays and play with local children in an orchard near his house and on December 3 last year, he sexually abused four children aged six to seven years at his house and attempted to rape them.
When the children told locals about the matter Mobarak fled the scene, the case statement added.
