Medicine looted from city hospital

A gang of robbers looted a huge quantity of medicine from the storeroom of the railway hospital at Shahjahanpur after stabbing a security guard in the early hours of yesterday.

The injured security guard, Rassel Talukder, 25, was admitted to a city hospital with several cut wounds on his body.

Police said a gang of about five robbers entered the medicine storeroom on the first floor of the railway hospital breaking open the lock between 2:00am and 2:30am after stabbing security guard Rassel on the ground floor.

Sub-inspector of Government Railway Police Ramiz Uddin filed a case with Motijheel Police Station in this connection.

Huge arms seized

Army recovered huge arms and ammunition from a terrorist den at Madhya Kanchanpur under Laxmichhari upazila in Khagrachhari district yesterday.

Acting on a tip-off, army raided Maidhya Kanchanpur, a remote area of Laxmichhari upazila, at 4.30 m and recovered one M-16 pistol, one SBBL gun, two magazine and 267 fresh ammunition of M-16 pistol, security sources said.

Sensing the presence of army, the criminals fled the den, leaving arms and ammunition.
