Govt to buy 28.25 lakh metric tonnes of rice, wheat

The government is going to purchase 28.25 lakh metric tonnes of rice and wheat in the current Boro season.

The Food Ministry issued a circular in this regard yesterday.

According to the circular, 10 lakh tonnes of boiled rice will be purchased at Tk 36 per kg and 1.5 lakh tonnes of non-boiled rice (Atap) will be purchased at Tk 35 per kg from May 7 to August 31.

Six lakh tonnes of paddy will also be purchased at Tk 26 per kg from April 26 to August 31.

Besides, 75,000 tonnes of wheat will be purchased at Tk 28 per kg from April 15 to June 30.
