79-year-old gets two shots of Covid-19 vaccine within minutes in Rangpur

A 79-year-old woman reportedly received two jabs of Covid-19 vaccine within five minutes today at Pirgacha Upazila Health Complex vaccination centre in Rangpur.

"After getting the first jab of her second dose, my mother Achia Khatun (79) was waiting for her vaccination card at the centre and my wife Rawshan Ara went to another booth to take her jab," our Rangpur correspondent reports quoting Khorshed Alam, son of the of woman.

"When my wife returned to take my mother after five minutes, another dose was already administered to my mother despite her informing them about her previous dose," said Khorshed.

"When we informed the matter to the concerned authority, the health officials of the hospital kept my mother under observation for some time," he said.

Khorshed also added that they are worried about his mother even though doctors assured them not to worry.

Upazila Health Official Abu Al Hajjaj said the woman was kept under observation for one hour after information that she was administered two jabs within five minutes.

"There was no problem after the inoculation. Problems would have shown up within that time if something bad was going to happen. We sent her home," he said.

Dr Hirombo Kumar Roy, civil surgeon of the district said he was not aware of the incident.

"I will look into the matter," he added.
