UIU organises National Recruitment Fair 2017

A 2-day Recruitment Fair kicked off at United International University (UIU) on December 18, 2017. This fair was jointly organised by UIU and Prothom Alo's online job portal chakri.com.

Among participating organisations were BRAC, IDLC, IPDC, Bashundhara Group, United Group, Akij Food & Beverage Ltd., Navana Group, Arla Foods Bangladesh, Apollo Hospitals Dhaka, Coca Cola International Beverages Pvt. Ltd., and many more.

UIU Vice Chancellor (Acting) Prof. Dr. Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman was the chief guest in the inaugural ceremonies while Ahteram Uddin, Chief Operating Officer, Prothom Alo Digital, was the special guest.

DIU tops GreenMetric World University Rankings 2017 among Bangladeshi universities

Daffodil International University (DIU) has achieved an unprecedented success in UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2017. DIU ranked first among Bangladeshi universities and 153rd in the global context; University of Dhaka was placed the 463rd position of the ranking. A total of 619 universities based on green campus from 76 countries were brought under this ranking. Wageningen University from the Netherlands ranked the top position in this ranking. The ranking was published on December 11, 2017 at the official website of Universitas Indonesia (http://greenmetric.ui.ac.id/overall-ranking-2017).

According to the website, the ranking was prepared by based on six criteria and indicators such as setting and infrastructure of campus, energy and climate change, waste treatment and recycling activities, water use in campus, transportation system, education in climate change, etc. 

At UI GreenMetric Rankings 2017, 251 participating universities from Asia, 202 from Europe, 140 from the Americas, 11 from Africa and 6 from Oceania have performed their activities based on environmental and sustainability development.

Universitas Indonesia believes that publishing top rankings of green campuses may enhance awareness about climate change and commit to sustainable development of climate change among educated people.

IUB and ACI sign MoU to promote scientific capacity building

The School of Life Sciences at Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Advanced Chemical Industries Limited (ACI) on December 14, 2017 at IUB campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka.

The purpose of this MoU is to promote the mutual objectives of scientific capacity building in biotechnology. This collaboration will help foster research, training, overall knowledge dissemination, and engage relevant stakeholders in translating innovations to functional public policy.

On behalf of IUB, the MoU was signed by Prof. M. Omar Rahman, VC, IUB and Prof. Rita Yusuf, Dean, School of Life Sciences, IUB while Dr. F.H. Ansarey, Managing Director and CEO, ACI Agribusiness of ACI Limited signed the MoU on behalf of his company.

M Anis Ud Dowla, Trustee of IUB and Chairman and Managing Director, ACI Ltd.; Prof. Milan Pagon, Pro-VC, IUB; Brig. Gen. (Retd.) Md. Anwarul Islam, Registrar; and Deans of different Schools of IUB were also present during the signing ceremony.

IUBAT signs MoU with Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institution

Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institution (BARI) and IUBAT (International University of Business Agriculture and Technology) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on December 6, 2017. 

This MoU is intended to facilitate all exchanges and co-operative initiatives between the two institutions in the areas of interactive training, practical work in agriculture, education, research and development, seminars, workshops, directions, services, professionals and training.

Prof. Dr. MA Hannan, Chair; Prof. Dr. M Shohidullah Miah, Director; Prof. Dr. Emdadul Haque; Prof. Dr. Mujibur Rahman Khan; Prof. Dr. M Sayadur Rahman; Dr. Farjana Sultana, Assistant Professor, CAS, IUBAT; Dr. Biresh Kumar Goshwami, Director (Support Service); Md. Shoyeb Hasan, Director (Planning & Evaluation); and high officials of both the institutions were present at the occasion.

WUB observes National Information & Communication Technology Day

Department of Computer Science and Engineering of World University of Bangladesh (WUB) held a discussion meeting on "National Information & Communication Technology Day" on December 12, 2017 at WUB Main Campus. Along with the Head of the department of CSE, all the faculty members and the Senior Executives were present. Everyone appreciated the timely steps taken by the Prime Minister to make Bangladesh a "Digital Bangladesh" for the benefit of the nation.

BUBT holds workshop on professional etiquette

A workshop titled "Professional Etiquette", jointly organised by Career Guidance Office (CGO) of BUBT and chakri.com was held at Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) on December 13, 2017 at the Conference Room of IQAC in Campus 2, Mirpur, Dhaka.

Prof. Md. Abu Saleh, VC of BUBT graced the occasion as the chief guest. He strongly believed that student would be benefited through this type of activities.

The keynote speech of the workshop was presented by Sabbir Ahmed, General Manager of Grameenphone Ltd. The focus of the workshop was the necessary aspects of professional etiquette in general and career development in particular. The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Syed Masud Husain, Dean, Faculty of Business, BUBT. Mohammad Masudur Rahman, Director of Career Guidance Office (CGO), BUBT, welcomed all participants in the aforesaid workshop. Abdullah Al Azad, Assistant Professor and Assistant Proctor of BUBT, anchored the session.

SEU signs MoU with Genex Infosys Limited to facilitate students' development

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Southeast University (SEU) and Genex Infosys Limited on December 13, 2017 at SEU Conference Room at Banani, Dhaka, to facilitate SEU's students' training, internship and job placement opportunities.

VC Prof. Dr. ANM Meshquat Uddin on behalf of SEU and Md. Mostofa Jaman, Head of Training and Development, on behalf of Genex Infosys Limited signed and exchanged documents of this MoU.

This MoU will give advantage in a two-tier phase. First, by motivating students to take initiatives to enhance their job-related skills, personal growth opportunities, networking capabilities and sense of belongingness. Second, by building positive image of SEU in the job market. The MoU will be effective for 3 years and may be renewed with the consent of both the parties.
