Dhaka North Chief Heat Officer Bushra tests positive for Covid
Bushra Afreen, the newly appointed Chief Heat Officer (CHO) of Dhaka north city, has been infected with the coronavirus.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Public Relations Officer Mokbul Hossain confirmed this to The Daily Star.
"She has been infected with corona after testing samples on Friday. She is currently staying in home isolation with mild symptoms," he said.
Bushra Afreen, the daughter of DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam, has been appointed first-ever CHO for Dhaka north city as the first city of Asia.
She was appointed for the CHO post of Dhaka north city by the US-based Adrienne Arshot-Rock Feller Foundation Resilience Center (Arshot-Rock).
Her role is to lead efforts to make the city safer in the face of extreme heat and to unify the city's planning and responses to extreme heat, particularly for the most vulnerable neighbourhoods and people. This appointment is the first of its kind in Asia.
