CJ reconstitutes 4 HC benches for virtually disposing of ‘very urgent cases’

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain has reconstituted four High Court benches for virtually holding hearing and disposing of "very urgent cases", except for anticipatory bail petitions.

The chief justice issued a notification today to this effect.

The four HC benches are of Justice Mamnoon Rahman and Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman; Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Sardar Md Rashed Jahangir; Justice Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain and Justice Khizir Hayat; and of Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil.

The benches will separately, virtually deal with "very urgent" writ petitions, bail petitions (except for anticipatory bail applications), corruption and money laundering related matters, criminal appeals and rules concerned till further order, according to the notification.

On April 11, the chief justice formed some benches of the Appellate and High Court Divisions of the Supreme Court for virtually hearing and disposing of urgent cases to deal with the changed situation amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
