Mamunul sent to jail after 18-day remand
A court in Narayanganj today sent Hefajat-e-Islam's former joint secretary general Mamunul Haque to Kashimpur Central Jail on completion of his 18-day remand in six cases filed over rape and March 28 violence.
Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Kauser Alam passed the order after Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) produced Mamunul before the court today, reports our Narayanganj correspondent.
Inspector of Narayanganj Court Police Asaduzzaman told The Daily Star that Mamunul was produced before the court today after interrogation over 18 days by Narayanganj district police, PBI and Criminal Investigation Department.
"Mamunul gave significant information during his 18-day remand. The information is being scrutinised with the help of three investigation agencies (police, PBI and CID). We will share details at a press conference tomorrow afternoon," said Narayanganj Superintendent of Police Zayedul Alam.
