A Khulna court today sentenced four people to death and five to life in prison for killing medicine businessman Firoj Sheikh in 2010.

The court of Md Yarab Hosen, Khulna additional district and session judge passed the order, confirmed prosecutor Md Iliyas.

The four sentenced to death are Farid Mollah, Mejbah Mollah, Mortaja and Tutul. Along with that, the court sentenced Mostafa Mollah, Selim Shikdar, Nasir Shikdar, Mehedi Mollah and Shahidul Shikdar to life in prison.

The court also acquitted four among the 13 accused as charges against them were not proven, the prosecutor said.

Among the convicts, Mortaja and Mehedi are absconding.

Firoj Sheikh was attacked on the night of August 15, 2010. He died the same night while being treated at Khulna Medical College Hospital.

Hiru Sheikh, younger brother of the deceased filed a case with Terokhada Police Station accusing 30 people.

Charge sheet of the case against 15 people was submitted to court in 2013.
