Police have sought a 24-day remand for Mamunul Haque, the joint secretary general of the recently dissolved committee of Hefajat-e-Islam, and also prayed to a Narayanganj court to show him arrested in three cases filed with Sonargaon Police Station.

Officer-in-Charge of Sonargaon Police Station Hafizur Rahman told The Daily Star, "In the morning, we submitted an appeal to the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate to show Mamunul arrested in the three cases and to place him on a 24-day remand. No order was issued till 1:00pm."      

One of the cases was filed by a woman who alleged that Mamunul raped her several times over the past two years after promising that he would marry her, reports our Narayanganj correspondent.

The two other cases were filed by police over violence at a resort in Sonargaon On April 3.
