Men's accessory today

For men, accessories and jewellery are often personal and subtle ad-ons. These are items which add to the outfit to make it unique and chic. It can be used to reflect one's personal aesthetics and personality. Be it for an everyday or formal look, accessories and jewellery for men is a whole other dimension on its own.

Rings

Rings might be an accessory which is not as preferred by men. However, the Egyptian pharaohs, Viking raiders, and Ottoman sultans all wore rings, so why not embrace the age-old tradition?

Ring designs for men have come a long way since the Viking age and now rings come in clean, simple Titanium bands to over-the-top Moody Mason rings.

Signet rings adorned with stones or jewels, classy and simple ceramic rings or statement rings — all have the potential to highlight one's personality and reflect their personal style. Besides, there is no absolute rule about how many rings to wear and on which finger. One can easily play around with rings to find what best suits them and adds to their confidence.

Bracelets

Bracelets are popular and common men's accessories, especially for a casual or formal style. These small additions can elevate and enhance the entire outfit with its dynamic and classy appearance. From classy beaded, rope and leather bracelets to bold metal bracelets, the variations of designs complement both a loud and laid back getup. Additionally, the bracelets can be worn separately or layered to create a chunkier and stand-out statement.

Necklaces

Necklaces are no longer exclusive to women. Particularly, chain necklaces with or without pendants are not only trendy but also timeless and effortless making it a popular piece of jewellery among men. Another common combination is a gold or silver necklace with a cross-shaped pendant hanging from it. Depending on how these necklaces are worn and layered, it can make one look like a gentleman or give street-cred.

These accessories and jewellery are quite dynamic and can be styled according to a dress code, casual or formal. With various designs coming in both minimalist styles and heavier and chunkier in appearance, these accessories add movements and definition. On the other hand, some accessories and jewellery best complement a formal or black-tie look.

Tie clips and tie bars

With a great suit comes great responsibility. Tie clips and tie bars may be quite small but its subtle presence adds a distinct layer of bold elegance. Modern day tie bars are usually designed to sit between the third and fourth button of a dress shirt. The right tie bar is one that is never wider than the tie itself. For instance, while wearing a fat tie one can opt for a longer tie bar. The tie bar should either be the same width of the tie or narrower but never wider.

Cufflinks

Cufflinks are both functional and ornamental accessories. Although they are traditionally associated with semi-formal evening wear for men, these versatile accessories can go with almost any shirt. Cufflinks come in a variety of styles — bullet black and toggle closure, whale black closure, stud or button, chain link, ball return, locking, silk knot and fabric and so on.

Substituting buttons, cufflinks add a touch of glamour and elegance and can bring the entire look together. Besides, using cufflinks on a casual shirt will not entirely look out of place as long as the right design and colour is picked out.

Pocket squares

Pocket squares are an accessory which men carry as opposed to wear. The purpose of the pocket square is to complement the outfit either by harmonising or contrasting with the tie or other accessories.

Historically, pocket squares were a necessity for guests attending dinner parties and other formal events. Till today, a white, handkerchief-style pocket square folded into a flat fold is the fashion smart option. However, using a contrasting pattern or design and colour to give dimension to the entire outfit is a modern approach to the classic accessory.

All in all, accessory for men is just as powerful of a fashion statement as it is for women. With the right amount and the right sense of style, these can fit the dress code and diversify men's wardrobes in bold, dynamic, and powerful ways.
