Zachary Levi vs The Rock: Yet more drama engulfing DC
In a post-credits sequence in Zachary Levi's Shazam! it was rumoured that Black Adam actor Dwayne Johnson prevented figures from The Rock's movie from appearing.
Members of Black Adam's Justice Society of America were initially intended to appear in Fury of the Gods. Still, the scene "fell apart three days before we were going to roll cameras," according to director David F Sandberg, forcing him to find alternate characters at the last minute. The performer and director reportedly forbade the figures from showing in Fury of the Gods. They also rejected a possible Levi appearance in Black Adam, according to a story from The Wrap on Tuesday.
Levi posted about The Wrap's findings on Instagram on Tuesday and added his own remark, "The truth shall set you free."
Johnson pushed for the original Shazam adversary to get his own spinoff film rather than being included as the nemesis in 2019's Shazam! because Black Adam was a passion project for him. The celebrity and director also played a crucial role in getting Henry Cavill to reprise his Superman role in an appearance for Black Adam.
Nevertheless, Black Adam failed to perform well at the box office when it was released in October. Soon after, DC experienced a leadership transition that essentially ended any future appearances of Black Adam in the DC Universe and ended Henry Cavill's brief comeback as Superman.
The possibilities of a third Shazam! are all but unattainable because Fury of the Gods, which was released last week, also performed poorly at the box office.
Levi, on the other hand, has vociferously defended the movie. On Monday, the actor stated on Twitter: "I believe that marketing is our greatest problem. Despite the fact that many families are unaware of it, this film is ideal for families, which is truly unfortunate.
