“All Covid-19 restrictions on foreigners’ travel to Bangladesh lifted from today”
All Covid-19 related restrictions on foreign tourists visiting Bangladesh have been lifted from today, state minister for civil aviation and tourism ministry has said.
The junior minister came up with the announcement at a press conference at the Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation building in the city's Agargaon today.
The press conference was organised to mark World Tourism Day which will be observed tomorrow.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the issuance of visas to foreigners were suspended for nearly three years since 2020.
This decision was taken after the meeting of the National Technical Advisory Committee related to Covid-19, said the state minister.
Mahbub Ali said the current government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working sincerely for the development of the tourism industry.
The state minister said, "Bangladesh Tourism Board has already taken a 'Tourism Recovery Plan' under the guidance and supervision of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism to deal with the challenges of the tourism industry in Bangladesh due to the impact of Covid-19, find ways to overcome the crisis and gain advantages in the competitive tourism market in the future."
