Biman flight to China’s Guangzhou takes off

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has started operating flights on Dhaka-Guangzhou route from today (August 18, 2022).

Carrying 177 passengers, flight BG366 departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 11am, and is scheduled to land at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in China around 4:45pm local time.

The return flight BG367 will take off from Guangzhou Airport around 7:45pm local time on the same day and is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka at 9:30pm.

The long-awaited flights on the Dhaka-Guangzhou route are expected to lessen the woes of Bangladeshi students and businessmen traveling to China.

Biman's General Manager (Public Relations) Tahera Khondokar told The Daily Star that currently Biman will operate one flight to China per month.

State Minister for Civil Aviation Mahbub Ali inaugurated the flight in a programme held at the departure terminal of HSIA.

Chairman of Biman Board of Directors Sazzadul Hasan, Secretary of Ministry of Civil Aviation Md Mokammel Hossain, Chairman of Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Biman Md Zahid Hossain and Executive Director of HSIA Group Captain Kamrul Islam, among others, were present at the programme.

While inaugurating the flight, the state minister said that Biman is moving forward with a specific goal.

"Currently the financial condition of Biman is good. I hope it goes to a better position in the future," he said.
