Kuakata beach has become a popular destination for tourists during the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday.

Since the Eid day yesterday (May 3, 2022), tourists have been gathering at the beach in huge numbers.

They arrived in buses, microbuses, private cars, pickup vans, motorcycles, and even auto rickshaws, reports our Patuakhali correspondent.

Many people were seen enjoying their day swimming in the sea and making merry with their loved ones. Many are seen sitting on beach chairs, enjoying the sea and nature. Incoming tourists are joining the festivities, dancing to the rhythm of the waves of the sea.

Some of them ride motorcycles from end to end of the beach.

On the first day of Eid, 80 percent rooms of residential hotels, motels and resorts were booked and from the second day onwards, 100 percent rooms were booked for 5-6 consecutive days, owners said.

The visitors are gathering at Rakhine Women's Market, Oyster Market, Misripara Tatampalli to buy local products. Crab, shrimp and other types of marine fish fry and barbeque are being savoured by tourists at stalls on the shore.

Golam Rabbi, a tourist from Khulna, said, "After a month of fasting, I got nine days off in a row and came to spend some times on the beach. I am so happy."

"I came to Kuakata with my family after a long vacation as the natural beauties of the beach fascinate us," said Aman Ullah of Pirojpur.

Saikat Ziaur Rahman, one of the hotel owners of the beach area said 80 percent of their hotel rooms were booked on the first day of the Eid.

After the first day, the gathering has intensified, he added.
