Battle with Brush 2018
Battle with Brush, by Woman's World and Banglanews24, is the first such contest in Bangladesh, created solely to hunt for the best makeup artists in town. After months of rigorous grooming sessions for the artists, the Grand Finale took place on 13 May 2018, at Gardenia Hall. The top seven finalists were tasked with creating the ideal 'bridal look' in just thirty minutes, and the champion's crown went to Nisa Hay, for her balanced approach with makeup and the model's attire. The second and third places were taken by Sanjida Khandaker and Shegufta Azmi respectively.
The judge's panel included artist Munmun Ahmed, CEO of Woman's World Farnaz Alam, Managing Director of Woman's World Kona Alam, and YouTube artist Raba Khan.
“This competition was a dream that my mother carried for years before I initiated it two years ago. Here, we try our best to find the makeup artists with immense potential that are deprived of a proper platform,” Farnaz Alam said.
“This year, we were gifted with a very talented pool of artists. 5000 participants from all over Bangladesh registered and it was not easy to pick just the top 15. From then on, through online voting, we found our top 12. The task in our semifinals helped us find the most creative, funky top seven, and finally here we are!”
Battle with Brush is a tremendous opportunity, as the participants are groomed and exposed to the media industry. The champion took home Tk 100,000, gifts, and a one year contract to work as a key makeup artist with Woman's World and Banglanews24.
Farnaz Alam is an avid believer of hard work and passion. From an early age, she was inspired by her mother's breakthrough in the makeup industry with Woman's World. As she grew up, she travelled abroad and worked with renowned brands like L'Oreal, Mac and London Fashion Week, with her experience and knowledge, she has taken this initiative to a new height.
Celebrity makeup artists Raisa Naushin, Mim Sabiha Sabrin, Shirin Farhana Niloy, and choreographer Azra Mahmood groomed the finalists.
The event was supported by Banglanews24 as media, hotel Khazana as hospitality collaborator, Amin Jewellers, and 'Round the Clock' as event managers.
