Mr. Fancy Pants
Being an essential complement to the panjabi, the right pajama can indeed make or break an outfit. With that in mind, why not jazz up the bottom-wear for a change?
PANT-STYLE PAJAMA
A hot favourite amongst the youth, pant-style pajamas are both functional and stylish, adding just the right amount of casual flair to the whole outfit. Usually made of cotton, you can find them at Bishworang for Tk 580, Longla for Tk 800 or even at Deshi Dosh. Opt for a contrast with cream, black and white or get the pant-style pajama tailor-made in the same colour as your panjabi or kurta.
CHOSH PAJAMA
An ideal complement to panjabis for nice formal occasions, chosh pajamas are a classic favourite since it gives the whole ensemble a very fitted look, while still maintaining a traditional vibe. For occasions where there is uncertainty regarding whether to dress it down or glam up, cotton or silk chosh pajamas are safe options. The cotton ones can be found at Kay Kraft for around Tk 400, and at Anjan's for over Tk 600.
CHURIDAR PAJAMA
While maintaining the same style cut as a chosh pajama, the churidar pajama is longer, thus creating rings at the bottom once worn. Ideal for holud functions and invites, the churidar is a stylish way to glam up your attire, especially when accessorising with your panjabi. Pair this with an embellished panjabi and you are bound to turn heads anywhere you go. You can find them at Anjan's for about Tk 750 and in M-Kraft for over Tk 1000.
SHALWAR
You can't beat a classic; the traditional pajama, or shalwar, is something that every man must have in his wardrobe. Being just loose enough for it to be comfy, weather-friendly, and functional, shalwars are perfect for men of all ages. Find them at your nearest Deshi Dosh.
DHOTI
Don't forget this essential if you want to stand out as a person from the people around you. If you are thinking that how is this even in trend, then do think again. Don't dread the wrap and the knot, embrace them for a dapper look for your next wedding invite. Think outside of panjabi for this bottom-wear; tuxedoes, coats, even your tailored shirt can be paired with a contrasting dhoti.
Check out Kumudini for their collection of this versatile piece.
ALIGARH PAJAMA
In essence, this is just a shalwar sans the elastic at the waist. Ideal for men adept at rocking the traditional wear, aligor pajamas can give quite a classic elegant look. You can find them at Anjan's for over Tk 700 and also in Elephant Road.
PATIALA SHALWARS
Patiala shalwars give men a chance to be flamboyant in style, while simultaneously maintaining maximum comfort. Designed to be loose-fitting, they add a bit of flowy vibe to your outfit and are ideal for our tropical weather. Pro tip; you can take the glamour factor up a notch and opt for the Kabuli style, which is loose all throughout. Do make sure to pair it with a snugly-fit panjabi to ensure you don't end up looking shabby. Patiala shalwars, and even the Kabuli style pajamas can be found in Manyavar, but they are, of course, pricier than the usual pajama models available.
