D.O.C Mozzarella and Pizza Bar Carlton was arguably one of the best venues The Food Talk could pick as Carlton is where Melbourne's cafe and casual Italian pizza culture began!

The main topic of discussion was about the 'Best Coffee & Pizza Place in Melbourne'.

Brother Baba Budan, Seven Seeds, Dukes Coffee roasters and Market Lane Coffee topped the list with a few more cafes discussed and a few arguments of individual favourites.

The average age turned out to be 13-14 for the first experience of coffee from a cafe and the definition of a great coffee included: 'beans roasted smoothly, not burnt', 'the milk needs to be steamed properly' and 'the froth needs to have little foam without the air bubbles…' The smell of the coffee, the roasters, the barista and many other things were taken into account in choosing the best coffee from the above mentioned cafes.

Then came the discussion of pizza and without a doubt D.O.C was among the top 3. The other 2 were La Svolta and Ladro.
