TraumaLink's volunteers shine
TraumaLink, a voluntary free emergency first aid service to help the people injured on the highways of Bangladesh, is now seeing shining examples among its hard-working volunteers.
On December 26, 2017 at 12.30 PM at Monno City Zone, Manikganj, a lorry truck that was speeding very fast on the highway ended up hitting a van. This crash caused the puller to fall off from the van and straight to the street side. Traumalink volunteer Lablu Miah's shop was nearby, he came forward with other volunteers Bashna Begum and Parul Begum to provide first aid.
TraumaLink is currently operating in 80 km altogether in Dhaka-Chittagong Highway and Dhaka Aricha Highway. Recently, expanded its operation in Manikganj from 20 km to another 10 km starting from Mohadevpur bus stand to Nobogram area under Manikganj District in Dhaka-Aricha highway. TraumaLink's service model utilises a hotline number, a 24/7 call centre and volunteer first responders recruited from local community who are trained in basic first aid and provided with necessary medical equipment.
