‘Alor Noksha’, a photo exhibition showcasing nature’s tranquillity underway at Gallery Qrius
'Alor Noksha,' a photo exhibition by M Shahadat Hossain Kiron and presented by lifestyle brand QRIUS, is underway at Gallery Qrius in Banani 11 from February 15. The event is exhibiting 122 photos showcasing an intimate proximity to nature.
"The only inspiration is to show to the people and share my feelings, to capture those feelings and bring them together," said M Shahadat Hossain Kiron when asked about his inspiration behind the photos. He has in his collection more than 10,000 photos, taken in various countries and in Bangladesh. In addition to his passion for photography, he is the chairman of Dekko Legacy Group, a leading conglomerate of Bangladesh that has its presence in food, apparel, accessories, distribution and lifestyle brands.
Starting his business from 1972, M Shahadat Hossain Kiron has also delved into his passion for photography which is evident from his collection of photos. One can see the yarning he has for nature that surrounds us. Capturing multidimensional moments on camera to enliven the variety of the natural is a recurring theme of his photos. A successful industrialist with an obviously busy life, he still took time to follow what nature has to offer and combined that with his passion for photography.
M Shahadat Hossain Kiron's photos have an appreciation of nature that captures its immaculate form. The 122 photos are displayed into groups of two to three photos in 43 frames, with titles like 'Shristir bhumika,' 'Kothin komol,' 'Shironamhin,' headlining each frame. The wide variety of aesthetic compositions and the colourful presence of birds, flowers, sculptures and other elements can be seen in the photos.
Keeping up with the theme of the event, Gallery Qrius has been decorated full of potted trees, drawing up a parallel with the nature themed photos of the exhibition. The gallery also had frames showcasing award winning photographs from around the world, a brief history of photography in Bangladesh, quotes of famous photographers worldwide, a display on the evolution of cameras through time and a neat collection of vintage cameras by Bashir Ahmed Sujan, a photographer himself.
The exhibition was inaugurated by three renowned photographers of the country— Munem Wasif, a documentary photographer currently teaching at Pathshala South Asian Media Academy, and winner of awards like Prix Pictet; Shafiqul Alam Kiron, co-founder of Map Photo Agency and recipient of World Press Photo award twice; and Joy K Roy Chowdhury, founding member and president of Narayanganj Photographic Club. Noted designer and researcher of traditional crafts Chandra Shekhar Shaha is the curator of the exhibition.
The exhibition will conclude on February 26 and is being held at Gallery Qrius, 4th floor of the showroom of lifestyle brand QRIUS at plot 58, block F, Road 11 Banani.
