What goes and what stays
TRENDS TO KEEP
Big sunglasses
Big sunnies are making a major comeback. And to be honest, they are a forever classic. Celebrities and influencers have already hopped onto the trend; they are being spotted everywhere pulling off some super big pairs.
You definitely do not have to wear one that's too big as it might not be practical for you (unless you want to rock that kind). Just look at your collection and see that the flatter your face-shape, the better. Once you find the pair, enjoy being a beautiful mystery behind those big frames.
Furry and feathery
Furs and feathers are a trend that keeps going in and out. But predictions are — they will go big. They have already been making appearances on the runway, as well as on our Instagram feeds. Although high maintenance, faux furs and feathers are the epitome of girly chic, and can take any outfit from zero to a hundred just like that!
From furry jackets to feathery boots — your wardrobe must have something you can fashionably recycle this year.
Neon bolds
Neons are a trend that managed to survive through last year and make it to this. Ladies, be ready to see more neon bolds this spring and summer. The Spring 2019 runways have escalated neon looks by incorporating brighter, bolder shades in stunning coutures. From adding a hint of neon to an outfit to styling a full-on neon, be ready to vividly slay in the upcoming months.
Metallic and sequins
Although sequins appeared last year, they are being accompanied by metallic to make 2019 even more glamorous. Sparkly clothing such as dresses, pants, tops, etc. are predicted to be big this year. Gorgeous sequins or metallic chromes — the options are endless. Find a piece that goes with your feel. You can dress up by allowing a full takeover, or dress down by layering — either way, you will look absolutely fabulous!
Pleats
Pleats are going to be one of the top trends this year. So buckle up to see them finally getting the spotlight they deserve. Pleated skirts, tops and dresses will be in vogue. They are simple with a dimension. Plain yet unique. Effortlessly easy to style — get them pleats ready to roll!
TRENDS TO DITCH
Mom jeans
Mom jeans became huge a couple of months ago, but its time has come to an end: for now, it has been listed to be one of the trends to be ditched this year. The reason behind mom jeans going into oblivion so quick is that it does not look flattering on a lot of people.
It's one of those trends where only a few can pull it off and others regret jumping on the bandwagon in the first place.
Plaids
Plaids come and go. They had their chance last year as many fashion labels decided to pull them through the runways. Victoria's Secret's 2018 fashion shows are notable where plaids took over, but due to such over-saturation seen the previous year, plaids will not be as popular as previous years.
Chunky dad sneakers
Ever since Balenciaga revealed their chunky dad sneakers, it became a massive success, especially on Instagram; influencers all over were seen in such huge kicks. But it's safe to announce that chunky sneakers will not be joining us in 2019. They are hard to pull off, do not look flattering to most, and we are more than happy to say goodbye!
Matrix sunglasses
Skinny matrix sunglasses were by far the hottest trend of 2018. They were spotted on everyone, everywhere. But as time went by, their fame evaporated. These sunnies act as nothing more than mere accessories. They do not protect the eyes from the sun whatsoever — a reason behind them being ditched already.
Also, a lot of women do not find them to complement their face-shapes well either. Be ready to swap these mini-glasses for the classic ones this year.
Decorated denim
Bedazzled or embroidered denim has been quite popular for a while. We saw most fashion houses bring out their own versions, adding statement patterns, pearls, rhinestones, etc. But this year, they are likely to be replaced by our good ol' solid denims!
Decorated denims need to be paired with well-thought-out outfits to look good. They are not exactly wearable in every setting. Whereas, solid, classic denim clothing can be worn with almost everything. Effortless styling is most likely what we are headed towards this year, and for that, decorated denim has to leave.
