What's on your bucket list?
Unless you have been living under a rock or away from the world that is the internet, you have heard of the term bucket list!
It is essentially a list of all the experiences you deem as worthy and intrinsically desire to go through at least once in your life before you kick the proverbial bucket. It can also be a list of goals you want to achieve or dreams that make you smile and encourage you to fulfill them.
WHY DO I NEED ONE?
Did it ever occur to you that most of us might be living life in a flurry of day to day activities? Does it ever strike you that days and month are simply photocopies of each other, whereby we end up doing nothing special or worth mentioning to anyone? Do you get excited up when you meet someone who practically lives on the edge and get a tad bit jealous of people who travel the world, as if there is no tomorrow?
This lack of variety and the familiarity of a set-patterned life is what makes it necessary for us to have something to look forward to, and also look back on fondly when done and at the twilight of our lives.
IS "BUCKET LIST" SYNONYMOUS TO DANGER AND ADRENALINE?
Not at all! It is simply a form whereby you can set anything and everything you ever wanted to do. It can even be spending more time with your children and grandparents, to switching the phone off for a few weeks or getting away from technology for good.
HOW DOES A BUCKET LIST HELP?
Besides giving you energy for the soul? Well, creating the list surely provides for an insightful understanding, a basis to our lives. Yes! We surely do think that we know ourselves really good, but do we actually?
Once we draw up a sincere list, we can get to realise our innermost desires. And please, let us not forget about enthusiasm either. Remember those childhood days when anything and everything seemed to excite us and we felt an interest towards everything? With time that eagerness and the gusto dies out and we become desensitised to almost everything. A bucket list helps us ignite that dormant inner child.
HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN BUCKET LIST?
Start by taking a pen and paper in hand. On top of that paper, write down the following words: "What if I were to die tomorrow? What would I like to do before I die….?" Then jot down whatever comes to mind.
Come up with as many items as you can possibly imagine, but it should be things that you have not done as yet. If you get stuck somehow, realise the fact that you are mentally limiting yourself. Let yourself go, since no one will be able to see the list except for yourself. Unless you want to share it – that is.
