Love at first flight!
'Fools Rush In.' Yes, they do!
Let's consider my next door neighbour who was certain that the lady who inboxed him randomly on Facebook, complimented his looks and eventually professed her undying love for him was his ladylove — the one who had been assigned, solely for 'him' by the gods in heaven.
Two months forward into the picture, the friendly lady who never paid bills for any of their meet ups at restaurants or movie dates, was absconding. A little investigation into the case by experts revealed that 'she' had lied about her address, changed her mobile number and even her Facebook ID.
With a brand new identity, she was probably swindling another, desperate enough to fall in love!
This was just one case.
Have we not all heard myriad extortion stories similar to this one, of desperate men and women, anxious to begin a relationship without thinking twice about its consequences?
Well, I am not saying Shakespeare was wrong — that there is nothing called love at first sight; I'd just make amends to the phrase, picking out love and replacing it with infatuation.
Love only happens when you know a certain person inside-out, and you still want to be with that person for the long run. You know her hidden desires, and worst character traits, and you still want to be with her.
That's when love happens and not in a day or two, or even a month. It takes time.
After truly knowing a person, if you make a conscious decision to stay together, then the relationship stays for life and can take on any tide or stress that falls upon it.
Let's consider another situation, where a cousin fell in love with his best friend, but this happened over a period of time, and he had a hard time acknowledging the fact, often blaming himself for thinking amorously about his friend.
Little did he know that his best friend felt the same!
Fast forward a few years they professed their love to each other and are now happily living beneath the same roof with two beautiful children. They both agree that it was the best decision they ever made, as this conscious decision made both of them content with life.
Love at first sight or not; adrenaline rush or not. What we suggest is that if someone wants to be serious in an affair, they must give it time. They must wait to see what works out and what does not!
The aftermath is not always blissful.
